Advanced Data Analysis and Visualization Workshops
Advanced Data Analysis and Visualization Workshops
Got Data? Need to Visualize it?
Join us for a free one day training workshop offered by SURA in collaboration with the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). The agenda will include an overview of resources at TACC, an introduction to Longhorn, and how to remotely access Longhorn. Hands on exercises will provide participants the opportunity to use ParaView, EnVision, and VisIt to visualize data sets. Participants will receive temporary training accounts for the purpose of participating in the workshop’s hands-on labs. This workshop is open to faculty and students with research that has visualization requirements.
Longhorn, an NSF-funded resource, is available to academic researchers nationwide through TeraGrid. A DELL/NVIDIA Visualization & Data Analysis Cluster, Longhorn is a hybrid CPU/GPU system designed for remote, interactive visualization and data analysis. In addition, Longhorn supports production, compute-intensive calculations on both the CPUs and GPUs. The large, per-node memory is intended to support serial and parallel visualization and analysis applications that take advantage of large memories, multiple computing cores, and multiple graphics processors. http://services.tacc.utexas.edu/index.php/longhorn-user-guide
- ParaView is an open-source, multi-platform parallel data analysis and visualization application built upon the Visualization ToolKit (VTK) library. (http://www.paraview.org/)
- EnVision is an easy-to-use web-based tool for remote scientific visualization available through the Longhorn Vis Portal.
- VisIt is a interactive parallel visualization and graphical analysis tool that allows scientific data to be viewed in a variety of ways. https://wci.llnl.gov/codes/visit/
